- Profile harmony: use E-line guidance and consider chin/nose before over-projecting lips.
- History & prior work: look for migration in the white lip; dissolve and reset when needed.
- Ratios: aim for a natural 1:1.6 (lower to upper) while respecting ethnic and cultural preferences.

Border & Definition
- Superficial linear threads just inside the vermilion for crisp edges and lipstick hold.
- Micro-aliquots to GK points and Cupid’s bow for shape—avoid over-rounding the peaks.
Body & Projection
- Linear threads or small boluses to central upper tubercle and paired lower tubercles.
- Use gel selection to match goals: firmer for definition, softer for subtle body hydration.
Perioral Support
- Oral commissure support to counter down-turning.
- Consider perioral lines with micro-threads; avoid creating top-lip heaviness.
Safety Culture & Complication Readiness
- Vascular awareness: thoughtful planes, gentle pressure, and massage for contour smoothing.
- Common issues: bruising/haematoma, swelling, nodules—when to massage, watch-and-wait, or escalate.
- Infection red flags: heat, redness, disproportionate pain—know your pathways and local protocols.
Technique tip – external rotation: using more superficial planes (where appropriate) can encourage upward lip show. For smiles that pull inward, adding structural resistance (e.g., nearby fold support) may help.
